What UGC creators actually charge for videos, usage rights and whitelisting, where marketplaces inflate prices, and how to negotiate bundles without souring the relationship.
Short answer: for a single ad-style video, capable UGC creators typically charge $60–$200; experienced performers with strong portfolios charge $150–$400+; marketplace listings run higher because platforms take their share. Usage rights, raw footage and whitelisting are priced separately, and bundles bring per-video costs down meaningfully.
What moves the price
Experience and portfolio quality first. Then market and language: a native German or Dutch creator costs more than the EU average and is worth it for localization. Then complexity: scripted narratives, multiple scenes or b-roll packages cost more than a talking-head review. And then rights: perpetual paid usage is worth real money to a creator, and pretending otherwise starts relationships badly.
Where brands overpay
Marketplaces are the biggest source of inflation; convenient, but you are paying the platform's margin on every video. The second is paying influencer prices for UGC work: if the video goes to your ad account and nothing is posted, audience size should not be in the price. The third is re-buying rights after the fact, which always costs more than negotiating them upfront.
How to negotiate without being cheap
Anchor on bundles: three or five videos at a committed rate, which gives the creator predictable income and you a lower per-video price. Pay promptly and brief clearly; the discount that matters most is the one proven creators give people who are easy to work with. In my programs the average cost per asset in the Galvier program came to roughly €25 because gifted seeding filtered for genuine fans before money entered the conversation at all.
A sanity check before you pay anyone
Would you run their last three portfolio pieces as ads today? If not, price is irrelevant.
